Acoustic Noise

We carry out measurements of internal and external noise according to EN ISO 3095, EN ISO 3381 and standardize according TS CR noise (Technical Specification for Interoperability Noise), (in standstill as well as while running) both at rest and during the ride. Additionally, with our large experience on locomotive noise which covers mainly the topics rolling noise, ventilation noise and cab noise, we support manufacturers in designing the vehicles in a way to meet the noise requirements at the first go.

Specialised measuring methods as intensity measurements, roughness measurements, determination of absorption coefficient and sound reduction index allow us together with detailed measuring data of laboratory and field tests give us a stable basis for noise design.
In EUROSABOT, an European research project for the substitution of cast iron blocks by brake shoes of another material in order to reduce rolling noise, we were responsible as work package leader for the whole field testing. This knowledge allows us, to develop customised low noise solutions for cast iron block braked vehicles.
PROSE is certified as test institute for acoustic measurements by the German railway authority (EBA).
